Kids’ Dentistry at Dentyl, Prague 2

There is a new dental surgery, which recently opened its doors to both children at adults, located just a few steps away from the trams and Metro stops of Náměstí Míru. Both Czech and English is spoken by the dental staff, and as the premises is located on the ground floor, there is also direct wheelchair access. Very importantly, unlike many other expat dental surgeries in Prague, it will not cost you an arm and a leg, each time that you visit.

The whole design and thought behind Dentyl, is to make the experience of visiting a dentist, as stress-free as possible. This is something, which becomes evident the minute that you walk through the front door. The patient automatically feels a natural sense of relaxation (this sounds strange at a dental surgery, I know), which is brought about by the soothing colour scheme of warm orange and light green accompanied by the presence of beautiful, fresh orchids and bamboo shoots. The staff are friendly but very professional and results orientated.

The kids’ corner located right next to the reception counter has a nice variety of toys. When I was in for my last treatment (child-free), another mother had left her aproximately 4-year-old daughter waiting there, while she was seeing a dentist herself. The mother also left some snacks and a PSP (portable playstation) to keep her daughter busy. So, eventhough the wait could have been relatively long, the little girl was kept occupied and an eye kept on her by the reception staff. Hence, if you urgently need treatment and have no baby-sitting, it could be possible to leave your age appropriate child waiting here, I suppose.

I personally ‘stumbled’ upon Dentyl a few weeks before Christmas. I was in a lot of pain with a sore tooth, which my previous dental surgery of 4 years had incorrectly treated. A friend recommended Dentyl, where I was diagnosed with a deep infection, which required root-canal work. The treatment was painful to start with, but very effective, and Dr. Bardiovska-Tylova, absolutely excellent. If you should ever require slightly more complex treatment (than your average filling or two), then I thoroughly recommend Dr. Bardiovska-Tylova, who is an expert in the field. She also speaks fluent English.

Dr. B-T works very closely with a dental nurse and I got the feeling that they were a team of professionals to whom my comfort and the successful resolution of my dental problem, was their number one priority. They even gave me a ‘stress ball’ to hold onto for the duration of the treatment. Also, the anaesthesia injections were administered so slowly and skilfully, that I felt almost no pain at all – it was quite amazing.

Later I took 4-year old Albie for a check-up. Luckily he had no rotten teeth (yet) but was still rewarded with a choice of a good quality small toy from the dentist’s special gift box.
