Right after our family lunch at Ambiente Pizza Nuova with Indoor Play Area (you need to make a reservation at least 1 week ahead) we went to check the NEW Indoor Playground at Kotva called Kuliskov. So now there are 2 Indoor playgrounds at KOTVA right next to each other. This new one is a nice Indoor Play Area with lots of new toys and space to run around in.

So firstly, the original kids play area you can read about here Detsky Koutek by Bambule Toy shop. It also has Babysitting.

The new Kuliskov - is without Babysitting. It’s also more expensive if you come just for 1-2 hours. Kuliskov used to be in the Palladium shopping mall but it was very small. They removed it after Hrad Zabavy Indoor Playground opened and have reopened it just across the street at the KOTVA Shopping Mall at Namesti Republiky.

You’ll find it on the 3rd floor right in front of the old playground - the Detsky Koutek by Bambule as mentioned earlier. Most probably if you never visited the first Playground you would not even make it there as the new one is quite dominant when you reach the 3rd floor. Or better to say - your Kids will not let you pass by because they will be sold on Kuliskov immediately.

But, if you need babysitting - Kuliskov doesn’t do it. It’s also the type of Indoor Playground where you pay for a whole day entry - 150 CZK. If you stay only for one hour it’s expensive. For half a day - it’s a good price. In the other playground you pay per hour and all the information you’ll find through our link above. So if you need to go shopping and leave you child behind - continue further on to the other Indoor Playground.

What is quite annoying is the small number of tables. Parents are fighting for chairs and hanging onto their chairs once they win them. I gave up and went inside the playground with the boys. This isn’t a type of Cafe as you know it. The only thing they have here is a reception where you pay the entrance fee and where you can buy some refreshments such as drinks, biscuits and baby food. You can have a coffee too, some kind of coffee.

The Indoor Playground is quite big. It is 300m2 and has many climbing frames, slides, swings and a bouncy castle. The whole area is surrounded by a fence easily jumped over by an adult. Not so easy for a child. The area for toddlers is separated from the bigger kids by a fence as well. At least the big kids don’t tread over the small kids. I found that very handy.

The baby area has many interactive toys. I wouldn’t mind trying all of them myself never mind the kids!!! :-) You can also get a great idea here with which of those expensive toys your kids actually prefer before setting off for Birthday Shopping.

ABOUT KOTVA:
If you have never been to Kotva Department Store, then it’s definitely worth a visit. The top floor has a great haberdashery section and also a tailor (krejcovstvi). One floor below you can find lots of well-priced Bohemian crystal and glass, some of which make great gifts for people overseas. There is also an engraver who can carve a personalised message onto your glass right next to the crystal section.

I like Kotva’s selection of shoes for both kids and adults plus if you are looking for a formal dress, you might just find one here. It is true that this store is not the best at visual merchandising (although they are slowly starting to modernise), but searching through the labyrinth of ad hoc clothes shelves and stands before you find something suitable, is half the fun.

On the first floor there is a watchmaker (changes watch batteries on the spot),a key maker, printer, pharmacy, SAZKA ticket sales point, a gift-wrapping service and a well-stocked perfume shop which sells lots of international fragrances as well as beauty products (including ‘la prairie’ skin care, which is not always easy to find around Prague). Between 4-5pm each day, this department even has a so-called ‘Happy Hour’ during which you get 20% off all their make-up as well as perfumes - bargain!

Directly opposite the printer is an inexpensive milk bar which makes fantastic freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices. If you’re pressed for time and need to do some grocery shopping, then the 2-floor Albert Supermarket will stock you up and allow you to wheel all of your groceries straight into your car (best accessed if you park on the level -2).

Finally, a great place to take your kids for lunch right next to Kotva is Ambiente Pizza Nuaova Restaurant.
