Traffic Rules Playground Prosek, Prague 9

If you are looking for the most modern Dopravni Hriste (Traffic Rules Playground) in Prague, then this is it. Built in 2008, it might be slightly off the beaten track for some of you, being situated in the middle of a housing development in the northern Prague suburb of Prosek. It’s not exactly an obvious location but with the help of your map or GPS, it is well worth a visit.

My boys love coming here, and so do I, as there is a lovely café on the premises where I can sit down with a cuppa, while they ride around by themselves in relative safety. The playground is completely surrounded by a fence and you have to buzz the intercom in order to get inside. Once you’ve paid a small entrance fee you have the whole playground is at your disposal.

You can bring your own bikes/ scootersor hire them right on the premises. There is a shed with a huge selection of bikes, helmets and motorized cars and police motor bikes for hire – again, charged at a nominal fee and on an hourly basis. You’ll be required to leave a deposit, which is fully refundable.

Even children as young as 2 or 3 can ride the motorized cars, provided that they wear a helmet. For the real tiny tots, who are too young to ride, there are 2 separate play areas with swings, sandpits and other playing equipment.

For the older kids, there are lots of smoothly asphalted roads, with plenty of traffic lights, signs, zebra crossings and even a mini petrol station to fill up in.

The best thing for adults here is the little coffee shop with tables and benches where you can also purchase light refreshments such as hot & cold drinks, ice cream, hot dogs and even waffles! Who could ask for more?

If this should be your first visit to a Traffic Rules Playground, then feel free to read up on it a bit more in the article on Prague 6’s Traffic Rules Playground.
