Ambiente Pizza Nuova Restaurant with play area, Prague 1
Right in the centre of Prague 1, on Namesti Rebuliky, next to the Kotva department store you will find the Ambiente Pizza Nuova Restaurant. This is one of a few non-smoking restaurants in Prague with a decent sized kids play area that includes a small slide, tables for colouring in, a TV and a good array of toys to please kids from the ages of 1-5 years. A baby-sitter comes in on the weekends, to watch over the young ones, plays with them and thus allows the parents to enjoy a short break.
One thing, which I found quite appealing about the play corner, is that it is carpeted (and clean) and has two windows with bars, so that no-one falls out. This keeps a fresh flow of air coming in when the area is full of energetic and active children.
You can enjoy an ‘all you can eat’ pizza and pasta menu in a very modern, clean, fresh, and pleasant environment. If you order unlimited pizza and pasta for 1 adult, then your child up to the age of 6 eats for free. The waiting staff simply carry around pots and plates of many different types of pasta and pizza and it is up to the customer to say whether they wish to get a serving or not. Each table is equipped with 2-sided coasters. If you’re still hungry, leave the green ‘mangiare’ (eat) side up, and once you’ve had your fill (this does not take long), you simply turn your coaster to show the red ‘basta’ sign, and the staff will stop ‘stuffing’ you.
The restaurant has a small antipasto and cheese buffet (great if you just want something light) and you can combine your ‘all you can eat’ menu with this. Some of the other items on the a la carte menu include: Grilled steaks, Brazilian churrasco, Neapolitan pizza Verace Pizza Napoletana and other home-made pasta dishes. The sommeliers will match your dish with an appropriate wine. Many of the tables are set up around the kitchen, which is made out of glass walls, allowing a direct view of the action in the kitchen!
The restaurant is situated on the first floor, with direct access from Namesti Republiky only available via a steep wooden staircase. Easy lift access, for people with prams, is available via an office building door located directly to the left of the main entrance to the eatery. One can also park the pram downstairs next to a guarded closet. The slightly challenging pram access is perhaps the only minor inconvenience for people with little ones. The service and food however, help to make up for this.
If you plan to visit with young children it might be useful to reserve a table close to the play area, so that you can eat and watch them at the same time.
The staff are quite relaxed even with little ones running in under their feet at times. On one occasion when we brought Nicolas’ walking chair with us, no-one seemed to mind that he went wild with it and this gave us the opportunity to spend some quality time with his big brother Marcus. I have also attended 2 Birthday Party celebrations here and can thoroughly recommend this place as a birthday venue.
