Coloseum Restaurant with indoor play area, Pruhonice

Now is our favourite time of the year to visit Pruhonice Park. The air is bracing but fresh, the crowds non-existent and the autumn colours majestic. After our chilly walk (part of which was in the rain) we decided to try lunch at Coloseum which is in the middle of Pruhonice village.

The restaurant has been opened since summer and looked very inviting (albeit busy) during the warmer months. A big terrace facing the street contains bench seating, cane chairs and outdoor lounges - large groups of people could easily be accommodated here.

The restaurant’s modern interior is L-shaped around the terrace and has ceiling to floor glass looking out - thus the interior is brightly lit and the non-smoking section is large and pleasantly smoke free. The service was friendly and efficient. The waiters saw me approaching (soaking wet!) with my large pram and rushed to open the door for me. We were asked if we’d like to sit near the children’s play area (of course!), a high chair was offered to us as well as a special menu for children.

Lucie headed straight to the play area and found enough to interest her. Toys, a table with coloured pencils and paper, rocker, puzzles etc. It’s not the largest space but it does the trick and keeps the little ones occupied. One minus point, there are no baby change facilities in the restaurant toilets.

We enjoyed our meal, Lucie had the kids chicken dish with mashed potato and I had a beautifully cooked salmon steak followed by a yummy Panna Cotta. The menu is pretty identical to other Coloseum restaurants around town so it’s heavy on the pizza and pasta. But as you can see from our order, they do offer other alternatives. I can imagine that the terrace would be a lovely place to meet friends for coffee or lunch during the warmer months. The restaurant has two entrances out to the terrace, one of which is right near the kids play area so you could in theory sit outside whilst the kids played indoors.

So if you are outdoor people like us and enjoy your food, try combining Coloseum with a walk through Pruhonice Park. It really does make a nice day out away from the city, even if the city is only 15 minutes away.
