Hidden away at the bottom of Havlickovy Sady in Prague 2 is a parent’s dream. Here you will find the Park Restaurant and Cafe, a family friendly venue with a large, paved outdoor terrace facing the park and the Botic river. Parents can rest easy and relax whilst kids whizz around on a range of push cars supplied by the restaurant or clamber over the outdoor children’s playground situated on a grassy lawn.

The menu is diverse mainly comprising of selection of salads, pasta and meats cooked on the outdoor bbq are on offer as well as a great selection of wines, cocktails, deserts and coffee. A pasta main course is roughly 130 CZK, Steaks are around the 300 CZK mark and the excellent Chilean red is 80 CZK a glass.

So far we’ve visited this restaurant 5 times, the first time was in winter and we were without child so hit the extensive cocktail list offered at the bar. The second visit was early spring, the weather was perfect for outdoor dining and the venue was half full, service and food were excellent. We also booked a table on International Children’s Day (June 1st) when the place was at full capacity due to the full schedule of kids events. The day was chaotic, incredibly hot and there were children running everywhere. I felt that the restaurant was understaffed considerably but in the end we all got our meals, the staff remained pleasant and the kids left happy.

As the day was sweltering the manager organised for a sprinkler/shower to be set up for the kids to run underneath and cool down. The sight (and noise) of at least 15 or so wet little kids running amok is something many restaurants would discourage but at Park they seemed eager to please.

Our last two visits have been good, the staff were really friendly and the food was fine. I should also add that we’ve noticed that the outdoor playground has been expanded to include two coil-spring rocking horses (see photo) and a sand pit so the restaurant is making a real effort to attract families.

Outside of the warmer months you’ll find the indoor setting modern and sunny with full length windows facing the park. There is a small kids area in one corner, there is also a baby change table in the women’s bathroom and they have a couple of high chairs for children.

I’ve had a few comments from friends that they’ve found the service slow despite visiting on a reasonably quiet day, others have not had any issues at all. We value your opinions so if you have visited Park please comment below and let us know how it was.
