Vaclavkova Playground and Fountain, Prague 6
In general, its not easy to find playgrounds around Prague 6, especially near the huge roundabout nicknamed Kulatak and officially called Vitezne namesti (Vitezne Square). We lived in this area for some time so I mapped the area, thoroughly focusing on Kid Friendly Places.
This isn’t a large or ultra modern playground but it’s a handy and close location. It also has a special nostalgic meaning for me – since this is the playground where Marcus learned how to walk whilst I was resting on the benches 8 months pregnant with Nicolas.
The whole area wasn’t so good for taking a walk with kids and we were missing a nearby park. Sure, we could have stretched our legs and walked all the way to Stromovka Park – but from our location it would take us a good 20 minutes just to make it to the entrance of the park.
Another 20 minutes in the opposite direction took us to Letna park with it’s 3 playgrounds and much more space and possibilities, but that’s about for this location.
The playground is one block away from a newly reconstructed rest area with fountains where your kids can splash a bit around and dip their feet in. I thought it was a very good idea considering how hot and dusty it sometimes gets in town and just simply looking at any kind of water is refreshing. I wouldn’t hold myself back and I would let the boys splash around and dip their feet.
